Does anyone here remember "Lambchop"? Shari Lewis was a ventriloquist waaaaay back in the day...way back. She had a sock puppet, embellished a bit, that was a little white lamb. She would hold it in her crossed arms, across her chest and it would talk back to her (a bit sassy) and cuddle against her and oh, how I loved Lambchop. I have been fascinated with lambs ever since...and I kid you not, I think it prepared me for the image of the "Lamb of God"...I am totally serious. That is a sacred image to me and touches a place in my heart that is almost hallowed. (The Savior, not the puppet...but the puppet kinda started the love-ball rolling...for lack of a better term.) In fact, I cannot eat lamb...my reason is this: The Lord said, "Feed my sheep"...not EAT my sheep....nuff said...apologies to my niece Tiffany and her big fat Greek in-laws...said with love. (actually thin and beautiful...but I digress...arrggghhh darn ADHD!!!)
While in Ohio, my mother, sister, son Eli and I stopped at a Cracker Barrel Country Store (anyone who has never experienced a Cracker Barrel, well, repent and get going). They had LAMBCHOPs...just sitting there shooting out "love me" bubbles to all the passers-by...When you press its little plush belly, it says adorable little lamby things like "you make me laugh" or "Wow, you look great" *a personal favorite*
I was smitten. I stood in line to purchase mine and lo and behold, there was my sweet mom waving a lambchop at me...MY VERY OWN LAMBCHOP BOUGHT FOR ME BY MY MOM!!!!!! Oh what joy!!!!
Well, bear with me through this gag fest. Last night, sleeping alone (P-man is hiking the Grand Canyon with the young men from Church) I went to bed with Lambchop. I woke up in the middle of the night holding lambchop's hand, paw, hoof, whatever. It was so cute. I laid my head back down and must have activated something because it said, "I love you". Just take me now Jesus.......

Umm moo?
You're year of the sheep! Of COURSE you love lambchop!
Duh! :)
Ok...we definitely have some parallel thing going on here. Mom said I would have a fit if I didn't get to watch LambChop. I even tried to make my own when I was about eight (it was sad...and made out of one of my dad's old blue striped tube socks!) When Meg and Josh were little, Shari was on TV...and we'd watch. Josh loved Charlie Horse...he would crack up. We got a little LambChop when Josh was little and both he and Meggie loved it. I seriously have to get to Cracker Barrel. Shari Lewis died so young...I mean she was 65 but seemed like a little kid still, to me. Thanks for the memories.
Oh yea...I AM the year of the sheep....weird...how perceptive of you and dense of me....way to go....
Diane, what is it about that lamby creature we love so much?...it must transcend generations if Josh and Meggie love it also...and I'm sorry, but a old blue striped tube sock?...I almost cried....GET TO CRACKER BARREL!!!!
I should qualify that it's only perceptive of me because we have a Taurus, born year of the ox, with an addiction to. . .you guessed it, cows. It's a passion really.
So, I find it quite amusing when I see those things coincide now.
M- the not generally so perceptive one who occasionally pulls off a good one. . .
aww. . .cutest thing ever written by my mom! That's how I felt one Christmas when you and dad bought me Mr. Snugglesworth for Christmas. . remember the stuffed dog from pottery barn that I had a soft spot for? Oh, I love that thing. Did I mention I was 26 when you gave that to me?
Also, I loved Lambchop, too, and used to watch reruns and every time you walked in the room when we were watching him you would gasp and say, "oh, i just love him!" We used to laugh at you when you said it because you said it like it was the first time you had seen lambchop in 30 years. . .but, you really had seen him just a week before on our Saturday morning shows. Cute.
Ummmm.....I have Mr. Snugglesworth....He sits next to Lambchop on my bed....*blush*...and that's a cute memory about Lambchop...I'm almost looking forward to not having a memory because it would be like that ALL THE TIME.
I remember Lambchop. In fact Al and Emma were watching some show on TV and Lambchop came on. I ran into the room and watched it with them. Both were in shock that I knew who he was. I told them that Grandma Boo Boo knew him before I did...they just looked up at me with their big dough eyes and asked....How old is Lambchop anyway? Children are so sweet. lol
Oh Jette, that is a funny remark.."how old is Lambchop anyway?"....tell them, "Well, first dirt was invented, then BooBoo, then Lambchop"....
you guys crack me up.
Did you just call my family fat? OMGosh, you are in so much trouble! You better hope they never read this! JK...well except for the not reading this part.
DD - do you remember the red & white striped romper that I used to wear from Lucy's toyshop? My lampchop become so threadbare,
that she fell apart!
Em, just as I was reading your post, I was thinking, "They didn't have PBarn in Ohio when Em was little...". At 26? You are still on brand for Emily, even after #2!
Oh TT....my heart soared when I saw your post...you make me so happy!!!!!! Your poor little threadbare lambchop...saddest thing ever...and how cute are you going to Lucy's Toy Shop??? Oh, thank you for that image...cutest little blondie ever strutting through her second home in German Village...3 years old and in charge...how did you do that?
